From 6 April 2025, statutory parental pay rates have increased in line with the new tax year, now set at £187.18 per week.
This adjustment affects Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP), Shared Parental Pay (ShPP), Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP), Statutory Neonatal Care Pay (SNCP) and Statutory Parental Bereavement Pay (SPBP).
Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) has also risen to £118.75 per week, effective from the same date.
For small employers, the relief rate on statutory payments has increased from 103% to 108.5%. This means eligible businesses can reclaim the full cost of statutory payments, such as SMP, plus an additional 8.5% in compensation from HMRC during the 2025/26 tax year.
